And yet more good reviews come in for ‘Proper Horror Show’, Prince Kong’s quintessential dosage of dub grime nastiness.
From Boomkat.com… What do you get if you cross the DJ Producer with Diplo and The Bug? Maybe something close to Prince Kong on ‘Proper Horror Show’. After a couple of storm-troopin ragga cuts for Alphabet Set and !Kaboogie Records he’s made an even more uncompromising effort for the newly minted Ghetto Quietly label, reeling between bushwacka Ragga-gabber on ‘Angsta’ feat Jah Balance, to hyper-Soca rinseouts featuring MC Quilombola on ‘Whailt’ and ‘Cazz’. It’s fair to say there’s not really owt around like this so it’s the finest example of this style that you’re going to find. boomkat.com … and Kong also has several other releases on the go at present. This is what the nice chaps at Wire magazine had to say about one of these in the October ’09 edition… “Cool single mixing classic reggae topping with a screwed up industrial underlayer. The tension between the forces is hypnotic.” Proper Horror Show is available as download and 2×12 inch vinyl from all good stores.
MMR’s new sister label Ghetto Quietly launches in Dublin this weekend with a rock solid line up of Prince Kong, Bluefood and A-Force peddling their sonic wares along with various MCs.
Prince Kong’s ‘Proper Horror Show’ on 2 x 12 inch vinyl will be the label’s first release and expect much of the material from this release to feature in Kong’s set.
Dublin based Ghetto Quietly will concentrate on limited runs of vinyl for local artists… thus far: Prince Kong, Bluefood and A-Force. Expect GQ vinyls to coincide roughly with MMR digital download releases for these Irish artists.
Perhaps not so much a sister label as a bastard cousin.. the one your Mom never wanted you to hang out with as they were from the wrong side of the tracks!

Another great review for Prince Kong’s latest release ‘Proper Horror Show’ mini album… this time from Superfan2009.com.
“Dublin, Ireland’s Prince Kong delivers a dancehall smasher with some tight verses and inspired dub style madness. Touching on various stages of UK underground club music evolution, this emerges as an original statement – relevant, compelling and raw. And in the best tradition of reggae’s myriad sub-genres, you can move your feet to it, as well as your mind. GO deh!” Thanks Superfan!

“Apparently Dublin isn’t just for world-beating, middle-aged arena rockers anymore. It’s also the province of Prince Kong, who has done more for dance music in just these first eight months of 2009 than Moby has managed in the last decade”
“Proper Horror Show offers eight more tracks of the unrelenting dance-floor attack for which Kong is quickly becoming famous” [Limewire]

“Apparently Dublin isn’t just for world-beating, middle-aged arena rockers anymore. It’s also the province of Prince Kong, who has done more for dance music in just these first eight months of 2009 than Moby has managed in the last decade. Mixing grime, dubstep, ragga, house, and more, Proper Horror Show comes blasting out at you with a danceability so relentless it’s bound to wind up being at the center of a few restraining orders before all is said and done.”

Prince Kong – ‘Proper Horror Show’ (LimeWire Review)
Kings of club music have been known to pop up all across the globe, from London to Berlin to Detroit and beyond, but who would have guessed that the next big innovator in dance music would emerge from Dublin? Sure enough, Prince Kong came blasting out of Ireland in early ’09 with the “Crossroads” single and I Make Me Rigid EP. Following up the latter, Proper Horror Show offers eight more tracks of the unrelenting dance-floor attack for which Kong is quickly becoming famous. The Prince Kong style is a syncretic one that brings together elements of dubstep, grime, jungle, and ragga, swirling them together to create a new paradigm that’s somehow bigger than the sum of its parts. Kong’s buzzing bass beats, in-your-face breaks, and stark, dance-or-die atmospheres set the scene in no uncertain terms, but just as important to Proper Horror Show’s sound are the guest vocalists who command the forefront on each track, including Jah Balance, MC Rodrigo, and perhaps most impressive of all, Lady Grew, who almost steals the show from Kong on “Whatcha” and “Marchfloor.”
